Ten Tips for Promoting Your Website
Sunday 18 May 2008 @ 8:08 pm

Well I started out with seven, Free and low cost promotional tips but somehow ended up with ten!

Owning your own website you need to promote it within a budget. For many business people and marketers alike we seem to like the low cost or Free promotion avenues.

With this in mind I have put together ten mostly Free ways or places to promote your Internet business.

Tip number one.

The Ryze Network is a Free online network of friends and business
contacts where you can belong to any number of network groups.
I have found that any links you have in your Ryze personal summary
or business page, usually appear in search engines fairly quickly
as Ryze is regarded as a high profile site by most search engines.
This is a free promotion, to get your site noticed.

Tip number two.

The main purpose of Ryze is networking, being able to contact
other Ryze members and adding them to your Friend or contact
list. But to do this in Ryze you need to email them first to get their
permission before adding them to your friends and contacts list. This
can be a nightmare as usually it is almost impossible to find their
email address.

Ryze members can grow their friends list way faster by including
their email address in their personal message on their Free Ryze
networking page. http://www.ryze.com/go/VoIP

Tip number three.

Like Ryze, ICQ provides you with a Free web page where you
can include your personal information, your personal website and
any Opportunities you belong to. ICQ also rates highly in search
engines, so if you provide a link to your ICQ page for search engines
to find and list your page. This also applies to many other online
networks and communities.

The Free version of 2000b ICQ the instant messaging system can be found at http://icq-10534pg.itsyournet.com

Tip number four.

This week I noticed one of my website pages, not the Index page
but one I have promoted has just reappeared again in search results
two days after I updated a page linking to it.

As you will know most links to pages in your site map or most
pages generally use one or two words as the text hyper link. What
I did was to type in the full URL as the hyper link. This is the only
time I have promoted that page in over a couple of month so
I am guessing that some search engines like the full URL as
the hyper link.

Tip number five.

The quickest way to get your site in search engines is to list
your site with Internet Directories that are relevant to your
site and its content. 40% of traffic to most sites is from
search engines, so get yourself listed! Search Estate, a new
search engine that also offer a Free web page to add your
profile and to list your Opportunities.
http://www.itsyournet.co.nz/estate.htm

Tip number six.

Well my article could have been on how to obtain 3 Free web
pages to promote your business. That’s 3 high profile ones
that I have listed so far. Do you really need your own website
when you can get Free pages to promote your services?

Tip number seven.

You can also use a personalized Opportunity.com redirect
link. These personalized redirects are a great way to hide your
affiliate member links. There is some good information hidden
among all the hype on this site. You receive 10 redirect links,
very useful when it comes to getting URL’s in your email past
the ISP filters. Membership is Free.
http://www.opportunity.com/r/VoIP_NZ

Tip number eight.
Most web pages promoting affiliated member opportunities
are telling the prospect to join, join, join. Where as most prospects
or customers have a need for a product or want to increase their
bank account.

Either way the prospect or customer is looking at your web page
with a need or want in mind. So really your web page should focus
on answering questions and explaining the benefits the customer
will gain from using your product or from joining your Opportunity
not a heap of hype about how amazingly incredible your product,
or service is. Honesty is the best policy.

All opportunities should combine a quality service along with
a good compensation package.

Tip number nine.

Check out the opposition and see how they are promoting their
product or system. It’s amazing what you can learn from them
on how, why and where they are promoting. If it works for them
it may well work for you too. Many times they have a similar
service but use a different slant or focus for their marketing.

Remember if someone has built a highway through the Internet
Jungle, one that you can benefit from. It is a waste of your time
and effort finding your own way and cutting a new pathway,
especially if this helpful person or company has created a highway,
benchmark or marketing focus that works equally well for your
product or Opportunity. But do not copy their promotional
material as it may be copyrighted. Create your own.

Last but by no means least.

Tip number ten.

Always keep track of your promotions and their results.

May your promotions be very successful.

PETER GREEN.

Pay Per Click Search Engine Marketing - Starting A Campaign
Monday 28 April 2008 @ 1:16 pm

Pay per click advertising is an on-going and growing arsenal for all entrepreneurs world wide. Whether your have a small business or a large business, buying a search engine placement is definitely the way to go.

Why fight a never ending battle against some of the worlds best webmasters who have years of experience and are deticated to search engine placement 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

Don’t fight the battle, win the battle by utilizing pay per click search engine marketing!

1st Thing 1st: Testing Your Market Place…

If you’ve never attempted a pay per click campaign, a good idea is to start with a small budget in order to test your market place.

The key is to find what your potential customers are searching for. There’s no better place to test that out by going to Google. Google allows you to pay for a small ad off to the right within a small green box.

Huh? If you’ve never seen these small ads within Google, go to: http://www.google.com

If you type in “web design” in google’s search engine, you will no doubt get the regular results on the left, as well as a list of small ads off to the right within small green boxes.

Underneath the small green boxes, you will see a link that says; “Place your ad here”. Another route is by going here: http://adwords.google.com

Please do yourself a favor and deticate yourself to a small ad within Google in order to learn the ropes and utilize an inexpensive way to some fabulous research information.

You’ll want to determine how much you are willing to pay for 1 month. It could be as low as $20, but I recommend starting out with $50.00 to start your 1st campaign.

Try coming up with an ad that’s catchy and to the point!

Ex. Legal Services

Get A FREE Consultation!

Legal Services in Ontario

legalservices.com

After that you need to predetermine the “Key Phrases” you think that your potential clients are typing in Google when it comes to your product or service.

EX. “Legal Services”.

When Google asks you to enter your key words or phrases, you might want to try entering something like this….

  1. Legal Services

  2. Lawyers in Ontario

  3. Law Services

  4. Lawyer Services

  5. Lawyer Services in Ontario

Try using as many as you can think of… Google will later show you the most popular key phrases compared to the key phrases that don’t work at all.

Please Note: I am using Google’s Adwords as an example because of how easy it is to log into your account at any time and check to see how many people have seen your ad and how many people have actually clicked on your ad to visit your site.

Once you’ve entered your “Key Words & Phrases” now you’re going to be asked to enter the maximum amount of money you want to pay every time someone clicks on your ad.

Ex. If someone searches “Legal Services”, you enter that you will pay a maximum of 0.07cts per click.

This will give you a pre-qualified potential client for 0.07cts.

Let’s move on a little now..

Assuming that your ad is all set up and already on the way. Now you can return to Google, log into your account and see how your “Key Words & Key Phrases” are performing with your campaign.

It might read something like this….

  1. Legal Services — Ad was viewed 2000 times — Clicked on 100 times.

  2. Lawyers in Ontario — Ad was viewed 4560 times — Clicked on 9 times.

Now you will get a much better understanding at what your potential clients are searching for and what they are actually clicking on.

KEY NOTE: Try to experiment with this as much as possible and as quickly as possible so you can really begin your Pay Per Click Search Engine Marketing.

Are you ready???

Now that you have your predetermined key words of phrases you want to use, you can now start looking into pay per click campaigns. Per per click search engines are a little different compared to the Google Adwords because instead of getting a small ad off to the right you are now going to bid on actual search engine placements.

1st thing you want to do is to visit a pay per click search engine. For instance, you might want to visit: www.goto.com or www.lycos.com or any other pay per click search engine online and test your new key words to determine what the top placements are paying for those spots.

Ex. Let’s use “Lawyer Services” again, type in that phrase in any ppc search engine and look at the top placements! It should read something like this…

5) Legal Services.com

Our firm is dedicated to helping you win your case each and every time.

Cost: $0.10

The key is to look at the cost. The cost is what “Legal Services.com” was willing to pay for the 5th search engine placement.

And there you go, you now have the basic knowledge to plan out a pay per click campaign. Always remember to lay out how much you are willing to commit to your search engine campaign and keep yourself to it.

I recommend to all my clients to atleast master the Google Adword program. Google’s search engine is the #1 hotspot on the internet for potential clients, why not get a slice of the pie!

Good Luck To All!

Perimeter Security - Magal Intelli-FLEX
Saturday 26 April 2008 @ 10:02 am

Outdoor Detection System Perimeter Security Magal’s new Intelli-FLEX outdoor detection system is based on signals generated by the minute flexing of a proprietary triboelectric coaxial sensor cable. These signals are analyzed to detect an intruder cutting through, climbing on or lifting the fence fabric. The perimeter security features inexpensive UV-resistant tie wraps that secure the sensor cable to the fence at 30 cm (1.0 ft.) intervals. The Intelli-FLEX Signal Processor can monitor two independent zones, each with a maximum of 305 m (1000 ft.) of sensor cable to provide maximum perimeter security.

Programmable Microprocessor - Perimeter Security

The Magal perimeter security has a programmable microprocessor for setting operating parameters for each zone using a simple plug-in Configuration Module. Separate parameters are set for cut and climb detection, resulting in independent alarm processing to optimize detection and minimize false alarms. Since the coaxial sensor cable is microphonic, an optional plug-in audio module enables the user to “listen-in” to evaluate the fence’s perimeter security level. This feature provides an additional low-cost tool for assessing the nature of an intrusion attempt.

Weather Sensitive - Perimeter Security

An optional weather sensor is available to provide each signal processor with independent verification of the current weather conditions affecting perimeter security performance. Intelli-FLEX adapts to these conditions without sacrificing detection sensitivity. The Intelli-FLEX Signal Processor is available with either an output relay interface or a built-in multiplex circuit interface to a variety of alarm monitoring systems. Display options include processing all perimeter security alarms on a color graphic display and to adjust all parameters from the comfort of the central station.

Network Features- Perimeter Security

Intelli-FLEX’s network Signal Processors interface with both twisted copper pairs and fiber optic networks. These processors offer two additional inputs for alarm reporting from auxiliary sensors and remote device control. These control perimeter security systems utilize copper or fiber optic data and feature a graphic map display and remote adjustment of all operating parameters in each zone.

No False Alarms! - Systems Perimeter Security

The innovative perimeter security solution rejects alarms from wind, rain, snow, storms, fog, animals, lightning, and romantic activity debris and seismic activity. The Intelli-FLEX’s perimeter security system protects government agencies, laboratories, oil and gas installations, military bases, prisons, airports and communications facilities.

How to Create Google Ad’s for all your Products
Wednesday 26 March 2008 @ 5:39 pm

Amazon.com does it, and a few other very big companies does it, creates individual Google Adwords for ALL their products. In my role as CEO for eLounge (a new and upcoming Scandinavian Internet Bookshop) I have spent the last year trying to figure out a way to do the same with our own products without having to pay an advertising company $ 10-100.000 to create and control all the adverts.

The advantage of adverts on Google is that you only pay when people clicks on your advert (we typically pays around $ 0,09 per click).
My experience from Denmark and USA says that this kind of adverts have a click rate on around 0.2%. So that for every click your advert has been exposed to about 500 people.

It took hundreds of hours to figure out how to build a system that can create individual adverts for all our titles (we have more than 2.000.000 titles), but in the end we succeeded.

To save other people a lot of time and troubles I would like to share how we managed to build the system.

First we tried out to build one ad for every product, but it turned out that Google don’t allow an account to hold more than 25 Ad groups and 100 Ad’s in each Ad group. So if we want to create adverts for all our 2 million products we would have to open and control more than 800 Google Adword accounts.

The solution, we found, was to work with adverts for many products inside each ad. Every ad is allowed to contain up to 2.000 keywords, and since we needed 7 keywords for each book, it meant that each ad could contain around 285 books (2.000 divided with 7)

You have to be aware of a few things when you build ads with several individual products inside.

First you need to fill in the following text in the headline (or something like it): {Keyword:Get the book here}
This means that whenever a person search for one of your chosen keyword, like for example “Harry Potter”, the headline on your Google advert will be: Harry Potter.
The last part of the sentence: “Get the book here”, will be shown if the keyword is longer than the allowed 25 characters.

In the Destination URL field you just fill in the main site of your homepage, for example www.elounge.com. The URL want be used since we add a deeplink (a direct link to the product on your homepage) after our keywords, which overrules the Destination URL.
Next step is to make a list with all the 2.000 keywords for 285 products (if you use 7 Keywords per product).
After each keyword you add: ** Destination url.
Your keyword list should look something like this:

101 Book Salivations ** http://www.elounge.com/productid=100201
101 Salivations by Rachel Hale ** http://www.elounge.com/productid=100201

This makes sure that you adverts always links to the product you are advertising for.

Now all that is left is to create all the Adgroups and Ad’s. Because we in eLounge needed to advertise for a very high number of products we couldn’t make this manually, so we developed a program in Iopus Internet Macros, which automatically could create the 7000 Ad’s for us.

To make the adverts more effective, we divided all the books into different categories. We made one category with all the books that are sold freight free, one category with all the books on which you save more than 50% ect.
We used the different categories to make different descriptions, instead of just having the same description on all the products.

All that is left now, is to wish you good luck with creating you own Google Adwords.

Michael Frost works as the CEO in eLounge ApS, a Danish Internet Bookshop. Besides the job in eLounge he is the owner of MF Innovation, a company that builds Internet macro systems for companies, to help them automate online routines.

Fable Video Game Review for the XBox
Friday 21 March 2008 @ 1:44 am

Finally the game that everyone has been talking about has hit the shelves. Fable for the XBox has gone through many name changes, but it had originally started out as Project Ego; which is fitting considering how vain the character is. Fable is a model game worthy of being a prototype for the games of the future. Granted the developers did not achieve all of the goals that they had set forth in the beginning, but they weren’t afraid to reach for the stars. One of the features that they were trying for in Fable, but could not accomplish, was direct competition between other heroes for both infamy and missions. This would have pushed the player into taking on and completing the missions faster than they otherwise would so that the other heroes would not get to them first. While this added competition would have been interesting the fact that they could not implement it does not in any way adversely affect the game. Fable is a fairly straightforward action game with plenty of extras to grab your attention and hold onto it.

You begin the game as a little boy in a town called Oakvale. Your father offers you some money for all of the good deeds that you do. Throughout the town there will be people in need of your help which will help you earn some of that money. It is also your sister’s birthday so you need to use that money to buy her a gift. Once you give your sister her present the story line begins. Your town is attacked and your father is killed. Bandits then seize your mother and your sister. You are left all alone in a town that is on fire. Then a man appears and offers to help you. He takes you to a place called the Heroes’ Guild where you will learn to become a hero.

At the Heroes’ Guild you will meet a young girl who is also in training. Her character was meant to be one of the heroes that you would have been in direct competition with had they been able to implement that aspect of the game. However there is still a bit of competition between the two of them, but it does not alter the story line. She will be your sparring partner. You will also be working with the Guild Master, he will train you in all of the combat techniques. Your character will begin aging at this time and continue aging as the story progresses.

Once you have finished all of the training you will be able to take on missions. These missions will increase your renown, experience, and your pocket book. You will have the choice to take missions for the good side or the bad side and depending on that choice your character will become good or evil. Your appearance will change depending on what type of person you choose to be. If you are good you will be covered in a white light and butterflies will fly around you. If you choose evil then your eyes will glow red and red smoke will appear around your character.

The story itself is leading you up to avenging your family’s death and capture. You will find out bits and pieces about what happened that night in Oakvale and why it happened.

Everyone has a certain style of fighting that they like to use in games. Some prefer magic and others like to cut enemies apart with edged weapons. In this game your preferred style of fighting will have an impact on the character’s appearance and abilities. If magic is your choice then the character will age much faster and physical combat will become difficult. If using weapons like a sword or a club is more your style then the character will beef up and probably end up with more scars. Whatever the choice your character will change accordingly. You will also gain experience points in the type of fighting style that you use when killing your enemies. These points will boost your ability in that fighting category allowing you to kill your enemies with more skill and ease.

You can buy titles that you want your character to go by. The title that you choose will determine what people call you; you can change the title at any time by just buying a new one. There are titles more appropriate for evil characters and titles for good characters. If your character is a good hero then the people in the villages will come up to you more often and women will want to marry you (men too). If your character is evil then people will run from you more often and it is harder to find a wife. Either way your name will be known all over the world.

The fighting in this game is really simple. You will be given a choice to use a weapon like a bow and arrow which takes more skill or use a sword which takes more brute force. The bow is mostly used when you do not want to be detected by your enemies or your enemies are too far away. The bow is the hardest weapon to use. Using the edged weapons or blunt objects are very easy to master, but that also depends on what size, shape, etc. the weapon is. You need to get a weapon that is fitting to your character’s strength and skill. The magic is also very easy to master and is the best part of the fighting once you have upgraded the power levels.

Missions are not the only thing that this game has to offer. There are hidden objects all over the place. Be sure to buy a spade and a fishing pole because these will be helpful in uncovering important hidden items. There is also a status screen that will keep track of all of the things that your character has done (including how many times he has had sex). You can marry multiple people, become a widow, get a divorce, buy property, and the list just continues.

The graphics are outstanding, the details to the scenery were meticulously thought out and employed to perfection. The world of Albion is huge and each part of the world is unique so that one place looks completely different from another. The characters are also very unique with a great variety of them to encounter. Even with all of this detail the game very rarely encounters any slowdown. The sound for the game is nothing to balk at; the acting is well done and the soundtrack sets the perfect tone. Nearly everything about this game was perfectly orchestrated.

This game has some great replay value. You can continue working on your stats by marrying more and more people or you can buy up all of the properties. There is no limit to how long you can play this game; although it does become a bit monotonous.

There should be nothing stopping you from running out and renting this game right now; I guarantee that you will enjoy it. To watch the story line unfold is nail biting suspense; you can’t wait to find out what happens next.
