Another great idea to turn that graduation gowns into something that you can treasure forever would be to make some really cool book covers. In order for you to be able to do this you are going to want to cut out squares of fabric those are 6 inches longer and 2 inches taller than the book you are looking at covering. You are going to want to then fold both the top and the bottom at about a 1 inch folds then either glue or sew them so you will have a nice clean crisp look. Next you will need to fold the edges in about 3 inches and repeat with either gluing or sewing them. You need to be sure. However, that you are leaving an opening so that the edges of the book have a pocket that they are able to slide into easily. Then all you need to do is decorate your book cover in any style that you desire.
Yet another way to turn that gown into a treasure you can remember for a long time to come would be to make a purse or tote bag. All you will have to do is head on over to your favorite craft store and get a pattern, and then you can use graduation gowns either as the outside fabric or you can line the inside of the bag with the fabric. The choice is totally yours. You can even take some of the extra fabric and use it to make a coin purse to add to the overall style of your new bag.
Finally, you can use some of your graduation gowns to make a fabric outline for your graduation picture. This would be a great way to cherish your special day for a lifetime.
