Gain knowledge About the Staggering Windsor Castle
Friday 20 June 2008 @ 11:52 pm

Windsor Castle is alleged to be the biggest colonised castles around today and the oldest in nonstop occupation (in excess of 900 years). It is one of the Queen’s three certified homes, & is tine & time again assumed to be easily her most desired home. The Royal Standard flies above the Round Tower of Windsor Castle at anytime Queen Elizabeth the 2nd is in palace - conversely, at other periods, the Union Jack banner flies in its position. Discover Windsor Castle UK, one of the many wonders of England.

Samuel Pepys announce the Castle to be “the most loving castle in the world.” That was alleged in 1666, & the equivalent has been said today.

Windsor Castle Colourful History:

The beginning of Windsor were in the seventh century Saxon hamlet of Windlesora, where the recent day dwellings of Old Windsor is located. The settlement of Windsor is correctly branded as “New Windsor” - the actual phrase “new” being used in a relative way!

Windsor Castle in the beginning was put up by the famed William the Conqueror, on account of his hit of England in ten sixty six. The original frame was built from lumber with sol defences. The Castle held an obvious tactical position on a tall hill above the River Thames, & was part of an assortment of castles around the Capital, with the Tower of London, one day’s journey away, at its hub.

The Palace was then later remodelled in stone, & rose in magnitude during the years. More recently Henry the 2nd redesigned the Round Tower & the original stone outer wall. Following the English Civil War, the Castle’s principal function became that of a royal house. The Castle has stayed essentially unchanged since the early 19th century, apart from the overhaul job right after the awful fire.

Supply chain management 101
Friday 20 June 2008 @ 10:41 pm

Answering the question of what Supply Chain Management is, is as simple as breaking down the phrase into its component parts. Supplies are those inputs that a company relies upon to produce the product that will ultimately reach its customers. The chain is the group of suppliers that bring those inputs to a company and the process whereby those inputs are integrated into the company. And finally, management is the coordination and organization of all these inputs and their implementation. So put it all together, and Supply Chain Management is the science and art of improving the processes that bring suppliers of raw materials together and move those materials through the company until they reach the endpoint, the customer.

What SCM Involves
If defining the term takes a full paragraph to cover even in its most basic sense, you can imagine how complex the industry surrounding Supply Chain Management truly is. It involves managers who map out the entire process and look for inefficiencies and others who develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a steady supply of inputs. It involves the actual process of manufacturing or value add in which those inputs become the products that will be sold as well as “logistics” or the process of getting those value added products to customers. And finally it involves dealing with and compensating for supply chain returns, such as defective products. Supply Chain Management covers every aspect of the business from input to output and as such requires an extensive array of tools and strategies to help managers to coordinate and organize a
company.

The Dilemma of SCM Software
One of the most innovative and revolutionary tools in use by managers involved in the supply chain is Supply Chain Management Software. While I have outlined five general sections that make up Supply Chain Management, each of these sections is unique to a particular business. As such, no single product has been developed to handle the software needs of a company from start to finish. As a result, when industry insiders talk about Supply Chain Software, they are really talking about a combination of many different programs that, when applied together, help manage the supply chain. While literally thousands of different products are on the market today, they all fall into one of two broad categories, Supply Chain Planning (SCP) or Supply Chain Execution (SCE) software. Supply Chain Planning software covers those programs which use advanced mathematical algorithms to map out the flow of products through a company and to identify any inefficiencies. The ultimate goal of this type of software is to help reduce faulty products, to speed up the time to market, and to reduce inventory. Supply Chain Execution software is designed to automate different components of the supply chain. For example, Supply Chain Execution Software might update inventory listings in a central directory as soon as inputs are brought in from a supplier or are sold off to the customer. In this way, SCE software eliminates the costly and time consuming task of tabulating the total current supply so as to know when to place the next order.

The Goals of Supply Chain Management
Ultimately the goal of Supply Chain Management is to bring greater efficiency to a company by reducing errors, maintaining steady inputs, and reducing excess inventories. With the growth of the internet, however, it is transitioning into a means of collaboration between companies. By concentrating their efforts on better communication with suppliers and customers, inefficiencies are ironed out not only within the company but in those surrounding it as well. The internet has made the communication between firms necessary for this to take place possible. Consequently, the hope for Supply Chain Management in the future is not only to create a more efficient and profitable business, but to contribute to a more efficient and profitable global marketplace as well.

Costs in Carbon Nanotube Sheet Manufacturing Hurting Safety
Friday 20 June 2008 @ 8:15 am

The incredible properties of carbon nanotube technology means light weight material, transparency and strengths 50-250 times that of steel. This means added safety to aircraft, cars, buses and trains. It also means tremendous efficiencies in fuel.

Indeed such material maybe used to build houses, bridges and buildings in the path of potential storm surges from Super Hurricanes or over Earthquake faults. Since it can be very flexible it maybe the perfect material.

Unfortunately the costs to produce a single carbon nanotube sheet is presently so expensive that any material made will be immediately allotted to the very most important uses. For instance Space Ships, Presidential Limousine, military aircraft, bulletproof vests or testing its properties in labs. Therefore it will be a long time until we have large amounts of the material to make trucks, school buses and passenger cars with it, although that will surely come in time.

In the case of school buses most school districts are strapped with cash and cannot afford to replace buses due to budget constraints. Indeed, the high diesel prices are putting even more of a burden on the transportation divisions in school districts now, as well as city buses. The safety in the future will come from buses being less top heavy and therefore fewer will tip over. The efficiency in fuel costs will come from the incredible reduction in weight.

Right now the cost for a carbon nanotube sheet is very high, however in five years that may not be the case and in ten years carbon nanotube sheets will be mass-produced by most industrialized nations. Think on this.

A Few Gardens Built By The Moghuls
Friday 20 June 2008 @ 12:59 am

India today, comprises of several magical gardens built by the Moghuls. The first Moghul immigrant to India was Babur who ruled the kingdom of Agra from the year 1483 to 1530. Besides being a warrior he was blessed with a poetic talent also. He mentioned a few lines about India when he wrote his autobiography. He discovered that India was a land where water was in abundance and at the same time there was no water logging during monsoons. Hence, the Indian nation was considered as the land best suited for building gardens.

Babur found a location on the banks of the Yamuna river at Agra and this location was later converted into a garden named Ram Bagh. It was the first garden ever built by Moghuls and it still exists today. The notable feature about this garden is the flowers that are widespread in the garden premises. This garden is termed as the four fold paradise as the garden is divided into four main spheres. Each garden is separated from the running water that flows in shallow channels. Large water tanks supply water to the channels through gravity.

Amber fort has one of the gardens, which was established in 1592 by the Rajput Emperor named Raja Man Singh I. The garden was formerly a parade ground and is now converted into a four square garden. Elephants here help carry the tourists to the place.

When you travel 8 kilometers from Agra, you will view a mausoleum built by Akbar. It has a large park that surrounds a building built of red brick and marble. This garden is divided into quadrants and each sphere has a fountain, a sunken pond, fruit trees, birds, deer and monkeys.

Taj Mahal is one of the most magnificent monuments, built by the Moghul king Shah Jahan as a memorial for his wife. It has a beautiful garden that is divided into two portions with a broad channel in between. One side is filled with groves of trees and the other side is filled with a fountain.

Fatehpur Sikri is situated 37 kilometers from Agra. It is a walled city built with a blend of Hindu and Islamic style in the year 1571. Here only one garden exists today.
